| The
Jenggala Artist Scholarship Program was initiated from the
proceeds of the photography exhibition of Brent Hesselyn's
work, one of Jenggala's founders, in December 2003. The scholarships
were awarded in 2004 to five inspiring artists from the Indonesian
Institute of Art (ISI) in Denpasar. Jenggala is proud to present
these scholarship recipients in an exhibition of paintings
entitled "Scenes of Nature".
Truly
inspired by the endless beauty of nature, the 5 students of
Indonesian Institute of Art (ISI), Denpasar, try to respond
to the challenges nature has provided them in creating their
artwork through color, shape and the philosophy that connect
the whole element together.

Beautifully
done, Dedy symbolizes the flowers magnificent aspect combining
with the space dimension which he portrays as a garden framed
on canvas. Ida Bagus Tilem and Wayan Linggih try to enter
the dimension of a forest as a part of wild life. Forest represents
an array of tranquillity, comfort and loneliness. In the depth
of a forest, they find the aesthetic values perfectly illustrate
their artwork.
I
Komang Suarsana pictures the elements of space as a part of
nature.Through
his paintings, Suarsana expresses his admiration for land,
forest, sea and mountain with its colorful dimension adding
perfection to the life itself. On the other hand, perhaps,
he also wants to describe the exploitations of nature which
are going out of hand. His paintings leave us wondering and
searching for answers. |

The
exhibition offers such variety one can imagine of trees, flowers
and forests. As the magnificent creature, butterfly is also
described as the exotic element rich of color and charm that
compliments the scene of nature. The space dimension, as the
nature's measurement, is also featured in this exhibition.
The
artists try to communicate about nature in abstract, realist
and surrealist styles in different ways. I Wayan Edhi Sutarna
paints the butterflies on his canvases by picturing them capable
of communicating in many ways as human beings do. Vinsensius
Dedy Reru completes Sutarna's paintings by showing the connection
between butterfly and flower in real life.
