"Reviving
the Classics" Hester Tjebbes is a studio potter
who loves traditional Indonesian crafts and combines them with traditions
from other cultures in her artworks. She reinvented Baroque motifs in
Bali's traditional styles and uses them in her contemporary ceramic
pottery. Much in the same way, Obin has been well-known for blending
Indonesia's traditional textile techniques into stylish contemporary
fashion. Both Hester and Obin gladly admit being inspired by the environment
where they work. The artworks are handmade by the artists themselves
together with Indonesian crafts people.
